Message from the Desk of Founding Principal

From scratch to 25 Years

It was in the month of January, 1987 with inspiration and aspiration of establishing a school that began in the area of Lower (now presently known as Rikhumai Taphou). Firstly, we began to seek God’s help, guidance and that of our Christian Brothers, elders and leaders of Lower Taphou. Consequently, after receiving the co-operation of brother-hood, the almighty God paved the way to begin our only profession and hope of our dream. Then and there, we established the school in the month of February, the 10th of 1987 which was inaugurated by Shri LS Law former MDC member and the school began its basic classes from Nursery to V in English medium with 96 Pupils enrolled and out of which 15 were hostellers. The first historic class began in a class room with free accommodation provided by Shri. Me Pukho (Village Chief of the village) and his son Mr. P Jonah and family who vacated the house with decent rooms for students to be educated for 3 consecutive years. With time, the school- Bethany English High School was later shifted to the present-day School campus in the year 1990. The initial and humble beginning of the School were difficult and tiresome but by keeping in mind for preparing a better tomorrow for the youngsters, we moved on with positive spirit, courage, hope and faith of removing the darkness of ignorance and illuminating our society with light of knowledge. The trust and belief of the parents with our poor beginning gave us the strength and enthusiasm to carry on. With great hopes and great efforts, the school gradually took the shape of what it is today in our hand.

Years after years, the school upgraded itself up to class VII and obtained its recognition Order No. 46/79-ED (M)(I); dated the 16th January, 1990 through the inspection and recommendation of Shri P. Akha, DI under district Education Office (DEO) of Shri KH Asholi in 1990.

Glancing and Pondering back into the past history of the school

Simultaneously, the school upgraded to class IX and then again to Class X with the permission from the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, vide order no. G/103-1991 and order no. G/54 dated the 17th December, 1991. Thus, Bethany English High School became a full-fledged high School. On 15th June, 2009, the school again upgraded to Higher Secondary School vide permission order no. 1/3/6/09-HSC, Imphal. Thereafter, Bethany English High School was renamed to Bethany Higher Secondary School.

Indeed, God gave the Bethany Higher Secondary School with its birth at Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati (DHQ), Manipur. The school is quite encouraging and praise worthy to note that the School has attempted with its own humble wats and teaching in professional ways and in creating a coherent, harmonious and peaceful atmosphere in and around the district of Senapati till date. Glancing and Pondering back into the past history of the school, the ordeal hardship and strength of which the school developed to what it is today is overwhelming.

I sink under the weight of the splendour

Would I could describe these conceptions, could impress upon paper all that is living so full and warm within me, that it might be the mirror of my soul, as my soul is the mirror of the infinite God! O my friend — but it is too much for my strength

  1. Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind me asking what theme you’re using?
(and don’t mind if I steal it? :P)

I just launched my site –also built in wordpress
like yours– but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd” on Google (would appreciate any feedback) – it’s still
    in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself
    during the coronavirus scare!
